On August 27, 1969, First Merced Title Co. was incorporated and opened in Merced by William Chiburis and Bob Stonum and underwritten by First American Title. Cliff Collins later become the Manager followed in 1970 by Beau Traylor and in 1975 by Bob Knestrick. The office at that time was located at 630 W. 19th Street, just across the street from our present location.
On March 1, 1977, Transamerica purchased the operation from Jim Morrison and Bill Chiburis with Bob Knestrick being named County Manager. July 1, 1977, Bob Knestrick transferred to Modesto and the present owner, Bob Ayers, was named County Manager.
In December of 1977 a branch in Atwater was opened and in February, 1978 a branch in Los Banos was opened. In August of 1980, the operations moved to its present location.
The Merced County Operations was purchased from Transamerica by Bob and Evie Ayers on June 14, 1985.
